Research Methodology

No single approach to research is best overall; rather, what is important is that the methods be appropriate for the questions under investigation. No single research method is inherently superior to any other: all methods have their relative advantages and disadvantages”.

Research Design and Process

We initially obtained job descriptions of the proposed sample for developing the tools. Before implementation of tool, personal information including experience, qualifications, and total training received was also gathered individually in the standard form attached to the tool (Andranovich & Burbank, 2004; Creswell, 2005; Godfrey & Clarke, 2000). The tool used is a 360 degree feedback form. It is a type of a questionnaire where evaluation is done from all the angles i.e. from all the important stakeholders of the small business owners. In this case they were the business individuals and the Olympics officials at Stratford (Sharpley, 2006; Pigram, 2006; Mason, 2008; Creswell, 2005).

Since in today's constant changing world, organisations are looking for ways through which they can improve their performance and thereby satisfy all the stakeholders be it customers, employees or in this case the Olympics officials and the business individuals at Stratford (Fidgeon, 2008b; Sharpley, 2006; Pigram, 2006; Mason, 2008). 360 degree feedback technique helps organisations achieve the same goals. It provides in depth analysis of the problem. It also helps identify the training needs within an organisation. By identifying the training needs and then providing those training can help organisations develop high quality labour which will lead to better results (Creswell, 2005; Fidgeon, 2008a; Mason, 2008; Sharpley, 2006). The data was collected for the local business community at Stratford. By comparing their performance we will be able to identify the level of expertise the concerned business individuals has. So if the results obtained tell us that the performances are different then it will help us analyse the specific impact in the particular areas at Stratford. As planning is an integral part but its costs time, the proper planning is needed to be identified (Andranovich & Burbank, 2004; Creswell, 2005; Fidgeon, 2008a; Fidgeon, 2008b). This way the small business owners will be able to keep the track of the Olympic impact and will also save time as the specific needs will have been identified. The process will also help assess the performance of Olympics officials. This can help identify the problems in a more comprehensive way. Package for Social Science (SPSS version 16.0) was used for data analysis and results were presented as tables. The participants have assessed the impact of Olympics. According to the performance level i.e. from poor to excellent (Godfrey & Clarke, 2000; Mason, 2008; Pigram, 2006; Saunders, 2007). It was not possible to assess it through SPSS. Therefore, there level of performance was converted to numbers so that result can be obtained through SPSS.
