Miami School District has recently started receiving high admittance for the upcoming school year; subsequently the school board has decided to redraw the school lines starting the following year. This plan while it may seem the best thing to do for the school is not favored by the parents (stakeholders). The redrawn school lines would stop many present students from attending their current schools making transition very hard on both the parents and their children.  This paper will discuss some of the parents concerns which includes the children's quality of education, increased travel time for parents, the economic and cultural boundaries that may be crossed, the impact on property values and the social impact that this will cause on the children It will further layout a negotiation strategy that supports Miami.

A few stakeholders are involved in this negotiation conflict. Miami School District is the internal stakeholder because they are members of the board within the school district and the parents of the children attending are also stakeholders. Stakeholders are persons who have some sort of interest within a certain business.

According to Nuseibeh and Easterbrook, as cited in Boutelle (2009), Stakeholders are defined as “individuals or organizations who stand to gain or lose from the success or failure of a system. (¶ 1) The children though not actively involved in the negotiation can also be considered stakeholder because they have something to lose in the process. The decisions made by Miami School District could have significant impact on both the parents and the children who attend the school.
