Educational Philosophy

The philosophy of education is a necessary component for administrators and teachers in schools across America. Philosophy of Education determines the direction of the school curriculum and, ultimately, students' performance. There is a lot of philosophy of education in educational jargon, even Perry Paul (2006) focused on five different philosophies: perennialism, idealism, realism, experimentalism, and existentialism. These five philosophies of education and the root of the tree from these roots, the other philosophy developed for use in schools. As an educator, I strive to incorporate all the philosophies to meet the educational needs and teach styles students, which consist of several aspects of the quality of education philosophies.

Perennialism

According to Charles et al (2003), perennialism devoted to the classical definition of education and training is the life of students. Perennialist favor of teaching the subject taught through disciplined drills, behavior control, as well as focus on truth, reason, and students who are passive recipients of knowledge. If I do not agree with the students to be passive recipients of knowledge, as the seventh grade social studies teacher, I believe in the different content of social studies, and should be disciplined drills. In the taxonomy of algae, the level of knowledge does not account for the understanding and for students to remember through the drills. I tend to focus on moving my instructions through six levels of Bloom for understanding the social studies curriculum. I firmly believe in the theory perennialism prepare students for life lessons and the truth of history.

Idealism

The idealistic philosophy believes in the program emphasizes that wisdom, reality, and students who have a passive role in the educational process.
