The rise of Islamic movements, too many revolutions and political life during the last five decades, culminating with 9/11 and “War against terrorism” have brought about a genuine discussion around causes and effects of the political Islam, especially in the Middle East and its politics.

The first major issue, which needs to be taken into consideration, is element of extreme solidity that the Islamic world has possessed: the Holy Quran.

According to Islamic world, the Holy Qur'an is "literal, hence absolutely true, word of God as revealed to Prophet Mohammad". In author's opinion, the direct and one of the most important implications, both in terms of the internal politics and of the international relation, is creation and practice of the Islamic law, as one of the three most fundamental systems of law. In most of the Islamic countries, like Islamic Republic of Iran, the judiciary system is rigorously structured around sayings of the Holy Quran and these are often sternly applied in people's everyday living.

This belief and faith is very natural as the importance of religion and of the spiritual leader is great in Islam. In number of ways, the political leader in the Middle East is connected to the religious identity, given the fact that the amount of separation between the church and state is not existent in Middle East and the religious basis is the key to all the political decisions being made throughout the region.

It is a fact that in number of Islamic states, where religion plays an important role, like Iran for example, the fundamental relationship between political leaders of the Middle East and the religious leader are very powerful.
