Minorities in my workplace

The aim of this paper is to explain minorities in the workplace I worked in. I will be explaining diversity and minorities in the workplace along with a personal observation. Diversity can be used as a means to achieve high degrees of flexibility within the workplace. The individual differences should be combined together to create mutual synergy which will not only be effective for overall corporate affairs but will also be beneficial for the employees throughout their lives (Harvey, 2012). When diversity is explored in a cross-cultural setting, employees are able to make informed decisions about people after meeting them, rather than judging them on the basis of preconceived notions and prejudices. Being able to avoid these prejudices and stereotypes leads an employee to being open and unbiased toward others and cultivates a sense of association for all. Employees coming from different backgrounds interact differently when they are introduced to newer cultures. This interactive deviance underlies workforce practices and ultimately improves their performances. People come from different part of the world and they behave differently if they are introduced to different culture. Also they will change their interpersonal behavior in a team and ultimately their performance (Steven, 2002).

This case was a mistreatment at workplace which is common in most of the organizations. Not all five fingers are equal; therefore, all the people cannot be similar. Some are very nice some are not. However, people should know how to treat with these kinds of people. I identified that there were problems within this situation for both, Jessica and the other coworkers, Peter and Alex. There were many different issues among this group of people which create many problems within the workplace, but also on the outside of the workplace (Taylor, 2005).
