Mobile Computing: From A Perspective Of Healthcare Industry

[Name of Institute

Abstract

In this paper we have studied the concept of mobile computing. Moreover we have studied the advantages and disadvantages of mobile computing technology. Furthermore, we have studied the effect of mbile compouting technology on healthcare sector in holistic context.

The healthcare industry is the one which has benefitted the most by this technological innovation. The precision and the error rates have reduced significantly in the healthcare settings and the institutions are still implementing this technology for better and efficient performance. Implementation of mobile computing will enhance the efficacy of healthcare industry since the data will be accessible from anywhere and health informatics integration will improve the healthcare services.

Mobile Computing: From A Perspective Of Healthcare Industry

INTRODUCTION

Mobile computing is basically a computer and human interaction through which a computer can be taken away portably during usage. Software and hardware are the core elements in mobile computing which play a very important role in their respective domains. Mobile computing is interesting, the devices are linked despite their location independence. For example: a mobile computing device can be connected to the internet and then another device can be spontaneously connected through tethering using so-called ad hoc networks (Armoni, 2002).

Mobile computing will enhance the efficacy of healthcare industry since the data will be accessible from anywhere and health informatics integration will improve the healthcare services.

DISCUSSION

Mobile Devices Being Used Today

It is a fact that nowadays many new technologies have emerged on the world scene. We have been inundated with phones, smartphones, notebooks, netbooks and more. Nowadays, 3G and 4G internet are being used in major cities of the world. Wi-Fi Internet is now commonplace since a long time. These features are starting to change our lives in an amazing way. But the main question is that what will be the future impact of mobile computing on our lives? We are really in an era where computing has become a major part of almost all the objects that we use in everyday life. Laptops and Handhelds, PDAs, Phone Hybrid, Automotive Navigation, Wearable Computers, Vehicle Management, bed side equipment and others are the main mobile devices used in heavy industries for attaining convenience in work (Dahlstrom, & Warraich, 2012).

Challenges for Mobile Computing

Security

Data when not specially protected are easily disturbed, altered and readable. Cryptographic techniques are increasingly used, but are not usually available by default. Moreover, often for the mobile user, it cannot be told whether existing encryption methods are actually enabled or not.

Mobility leads to the possibility of collecting personal location information motion profiles. Special procedures are there to protect the data against localization and are theoretically developed, but in practice are not in use (Armoni, 2002). The strong network of mobile devices also brings data protection problems. The potential opportunity for ubiquitous computing that any small mobile device can communicate with any other leads, due to the mostly static addressing information to the activities of the user controllability (Dahlstrom, & Warraich, 2012).
