Introduction

The love for one's country and to defend it is known as Nationalism. Nationalism is generally defined as the attitude of the people towards their nation and the actions that they take to achieve something related to their nation. When a nation faces threat, the patriots feel like defending and protecting it. Under nationalism, the people are inspired to do righteous deeds and bring glory to their country (Anonymous, 2001). It brings about a feeling of brotherhood among the people of the society. The United Nations Commission on Human Rights works for protecting the human rights around the globe and intends to create a bond of brotherhood and humanity in the future. The following essay is about Nationalism being uniquely modern and its evolution in the Modern Age.

The modern day Nationalism

The concept of Nationalism came into existence in the 90's (Anonymous, 2001). Nationalism has recently shifted towards issues of international level in response to terrorism and domination of international order. Modern Nationalism emerged in the 1700 and changed people's lives. Those societies that were previously under the rule of a monarch shifted to people having a say in the governmental issues (Allthefery, 2010).

The modern day Nationalism does not include the aggressive approach to the nation's protection and patriotism. It does not in any way is related to occupying the stage in news and research. The nationalists seek to develop moderate nationalism and develop a feeling of patriotism towards their nation (Anonymous, 2001). Nationalism supports the popular form of sovereignty and the idea that the authority lies with the people and the government acts as an agent to the people. Modern Nationalism helps in the economic development of the people. It helps people in deploying their resources for building their economic structure (Allthefery, 2010).
