Discussion

Set of State Standards

The Set of State Standards that I select is about the knowledge of students that they must possess for reading, mathematics and Science. For this set of standards, as also suggested by NLCB, grade level 3 to 8 required to be tested on a periodic basis. The law also required every state to develop or adopt an assessment, to measure students' academic performance (Ravitch, 2000). Furthermore, it is mandatory for schools to test at least 95% of their students, including at least 95% from different segments. Schools does segmentation on the basis of Low-Income, Disable students, students with lack of proficiency in english and students from diverse cultural background. Moreover, States also require to develop benchmark for schools that they should meet in reading, math, and eventually science.

Objectives of No Child Left Behind
