Neuroscience and Behavior

Neuroscience is the field related to the study of the nervous system and its effect on human thoughts, emotions, and behavior. The scientists in this field use various tools like computers and specialized dyes to investigate various aspects of neuroscience, which are molecules, brain, nerve cells, networks and behaviors (Society for NeuroScience, 2012).

Nervous system plays a vital role in the field of neuroscience as it controls the behaviors in human beings and animals. Our nervous system synchronizes the actions of the human body and transfers signals between various parts of the body. It consists of two main parts, which are, the Central nervous system that involves brain and spinal cord and the Peripheral nervous system that is consist of nerves. These are the extended strands that form a connection of central nervous system to all parts of the body (Lasserson. B. & Sharrack. G., 2003).

Neuron or nerve cell is a special cell in Nervous system. These cells have the capability to send signals at the fastest rate to other cells that cause actions in various parts of the body such as eyes, ears, brain, muscles, spinal cord and many more. There are three types of neurons that perform this function, which are sensory neurons, motor neurons and interneurons. Sensory neurons send signals received from sensory organs to brain via the spinal cord. Motor neurons are in-charge of sending signals by the brain to muscles that produce a movement. Interneurons are responsible for simply connecting all neurons in the body, and it supports the network of neurons. This process is both electrical and chemical (Hall. H. R., 1998).

Endocrine system affects each and every cell, organ and other functions of the body. It plays an essential role in regulating growth, development and mood, functionality of tissues, reproductive process, ...
