New Approach TO Airport Security

Abstract

September 11, 2001, led to renewed importance on airport security in the United States and other countries. Before the disaster, government strategy led to a suboptimal stage of security. The fundamental difficulty was not simply the use of private security firms, but rather the dependence on airline financing and poor Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) oversight. After 9/11 a federalized security system was put in place. The current system of tightened security is substantially more costly and should be evaluated in terms of its cost-effectiveness compared to a public-private approach.

Introduction

The awful events of September 11, 2001, galvanized the boss and legislative branches of the government government to proceed rapidly to evolve an aerodrome security system that would supply a higher grade of security. There were alternate courses of activity available. The territory could improvement the present system, shift the whole responsibility to aerodrome managers, or federalize the security system.

Upgrade Present System

The simplest course of activity was to change the present system by upgrading the value of the service. The FAA could take the lead and need the airlines to squeeze their contracts with the personal security firms to charter completely trained screeners, to run strict backdrop checks, to need more teaching, and establish a solid interior review system. The FAA itself could be needed to establish and vigorously enforce higher screening standards.
