Introduction

A Henrik Ibsen play that is Doll's House and Lorraine Hansberry play that is Raisin in the Sun; both have central themes of the search for identity in a social system is similar with the case of Nora. This is demonstrated by the female characters in both works, the social norms of their time and act on their own terms to break. In most cases, women were less dominant than men in society. These two works are very different from the views of women in society and the times and settings in A Doll's House Henrik Ibsen's Nora, was written in Victorian times, is a woman who has her own goals and objectives, Working unique and modern. Nora, the protagonist, is the first as a puppet or a puppet described because it is based on her husband, Torvald Helmer, all movements of thought, like a puppet hanging over his puppeteer for all their actions. Discussion

Nora was the woman who was compelled to remain in a circle of life which rotates between her husband, Helmer and her children. In the view of Helmer, Nora is a fragile, small, helpless individual and also with the childish nature which is not capable to make mindful decisions for her own self and for others also. This is a problem for the reason that Nora has to hide the fact that she has made a decision by herself. At first glance, Nora, the heroine of A Doll's House which was a nymph, a cheerful bun, the mistress of a quiet and tidy house, which resembles a puppet. Husband of Nora, Torvald Helmer, sees it not as an equal individual, and as a toy, doll. For eight years, lived together, Torvald has never talked with Nora seriously. In respect of Torvald's wife is also indicative of an episode when she leads Nora to masquerade as soon tarantella, to save effect created by it. The main thing for Torvald is that Nora to play on its rules. Nora did not bring up their children, and plays with them, though continuing to play with dolls, she is surrounded by almost toy like objects. (Birgitta, 2005)
