Task 1 - Atkins and Murphy Article

The article focused on developing the understanding about the nature of the reflective process, and it allowed nurses to know about ways of enhancing their professional and individual learning. There could be no doubt about the fact that practice experience has been seen as a great source of learning. However, it came into observation that there are people who may not learn from their experiences. Despite developing a pool of knowledge based on prior experience, the nursing professionals have been observed making mistakes. In the light, of this article experience could not be sufficient alone as nursing professionals might require different tools to facilitate the process of learning. The article also suggested that reflection could be common in one's educational life where reflection could be a conscious as well as a complex process that may allow a person to think and interpret personal experience so to learn from it.

This article stated that each reflective activity will respond to cognitive conflict that may arise in an uncertain situation because of lacking knowledge that is required to answer it. Significant point to notice would be that the act of caring will immerse lastly in scenarios where situation will be controlled constantly while endorsing the reflection importance in practices of nursing.
