Concept of observational learning

Observational learning, also called social learning theory, happens when an observer's behavior changes after examining the behavior of a model. An observer's behavior can be influenced by the affirmative or contradictory consequences-called vicarious reinforcement or vicarious punishment- of a model's behavior.

The Bobo Doll Experiment

The Bobo Doll Experiment was presented in 1961 by Albert Bandura, to try and add credence to his conviction that all human behavior was wise, through social imitation and making a replicate, rather than inherited through genetic factors.

The outcomes for the Bobo Doll Experiment displayed, as anticipated by proposition one, that children who were revealed to the hard-hitting form were more expected to display imitative hard-hitting behavior themselves(Zentall, 2006).

Subjects in the Bobo Doll Experiment revealed to the non-aggressive form, or no form at all, displayed little imitative hard-hitting behavior. This finding partially verified proposition two, with children revealed to a passive function form displaying less imitative aggression.

Male topics revealed to non-aggressive function forms were less expected to use the mallet to strike the Bobo doll. Strangely, male topics put with non-aggressive feminine forms were more expected to use the mallet than the command group.

Bandura's idea

Learning happens by diverse procedures and patterns amidst these diverse patterns is the learning through observation., proposed by Albert Bandura (1977-1986),what he calls as observational learning. According to him persons discovers many through observational learning.

Core of observational learning: The rudimentary and rudimentary component of observational learning is modelling. The aim of the notion of modelling is easily imitation. But modelling is more of a convoluted cognitive of imitation or mimicry.

To extract Albert Bandura (1986, p 47) “If information could be came by only through the consequences of one's activities, the method of cognitive and social development would be substantially retarded not to mention exceedingly tedious”.
