Introduction

This assignment is divided into three main parts of discussion where, the first part presents a detailed outline of a proposed organizational development plan for an assumed welfare organization titled 'Urnshire Council' which is a social or communal organization operating in one of the towns in Michigan, America. Before proceeding further, it is vital to mention that this organization and its associated details all are fictitious, but the information provided has tremendously helped in building and employing, the analytical skills related to the subject in the devising of its organizational development plan.

The second part of discussion, discusses about the organizational development plan prepared and its presentation in front of the senior management of the council so that they can too review and propose their recommendations, for the effective implementation of the proposed changes in the developed plan. The third part of the discussion discusses about the possible costs and benefits associated with the implementation of the proposed plan and the recommendations related to the plan itself about how further it can be improved for effective implementation results.

Discussion

Before beginning with our main discussion, it is important to explain what organizational development means. Iliev (2011) describes organizational development as means of improving a company's or any organizations employee's individual development and performance levels. For this to be effectively implemented and executed it is necessary that the organization in question should be considered as a unit with several, distinct parts, that should be considered and reviewed separately to determine if any change is required in any of these component units of the organization as a whole. Thus, as a process, organizational development consists of various methodologies and techniques about the strategic planning, leadership development, work-life balance, employee coaching, work diversity and organizational design of an organization (Iliev, 2011).

Gupta (2008) states organizational development to be an effort employed to improve the effectiveness and usefulness of units or components of an organization, through implying in-depth knowledge of various behavioral sciences combined. Thus, by this it is implied that an organization is a social network constituting of human beings brought together on a single platform by the organization itself, to establish and accomplish its different goals and objectives. Hence, it can be observed from above that organizational development is a planned process related to its structure, employees and operations.

An organizational development plan means that an organization is taking the initiative or is planning to map out its survival and growth plans, in the continuously changing business, economic and social environments.
