Introduction

The primary focus of this research proposal is to identify the various aspects of home care services provided to old people in various parts of United Kingdom. In the course of this research based study I will carry out qualitative research based approach by conducting interviews with customers. (Prieto, 2008, Pp.11-21)First I will design the brief statement of research hypothesis and then it will be pursued with the given format of the research proposal. The basic purpose of this research is to identify the areas in order to maintain the quality service for customers in home in the various part of the United Kingdom.

Brief statement of research hypothesis

Hypothesis

Qualified and sympathetic nurses have a significant impact on the quality home care services provided to old people in the various part of United Kingdom.

Null hypothesis

Qualified and sympathetic nurses don't have a significant impact on the quality home care services provided to old people in the various part of United Kingdom.

Brief contextualization

Home care for old people in the various part of the United Kingdom is also referred as social care and domiciliary care service. It is a supportive care or health care which is provided to the patient in his/ her home by the health care professionals such as nurses and doctors. (Smith, 2008, Pp.45-64)The term home care is also used to differentiate between custodial or non-medical care, which is not provided by nurses or doctor or other licensed medical professionals.

Home care in United Kingdom

In United Kingdom the home care services are purchased directly from different home care agencies operating independently or as division of the legal responsibility of social services department the local authorities provide the social services by deploying their own personnel's or with the help of independent agencies as well. (Harris, 2009, Pp.2-13)The home care service is proved once or twice in a day to the disabled or frail people in order to keep them independent and healthy. It can be extended to a full day service depending on the condition of the person.

Literature review

Nurses working with older people in care home settings aim to provide effective, appropriate, high quality care. An explanation of the statutory body for nursing and its impact on nursing practice with regard to accountability, responsibility, supervision and delegation follows. Nurses' duty of care and the legal issues surrounding registration are then explored. The importance of continuing professional development is highlighted and devices such as profiles, reflection and accreditation of prior learning are introduced. The contribution of individualized care, primary nursing and nursing development units is evaluated. The potential of nursing models to identify and consolidate the unique contribution of nursing in care home settings is explored. Strategies for maximizing teamwork are offered. Health and health promotion are considered in the context of older people.
