Introduction

The main purpose of this paper is to make an analysis on the case “The success of the iPod raises the licensing question for Apple”. This paper discusses different concepts based on this case study. The paper discusses different process and techniques of innovations which were used in order to make development, evaluation, and application of ideas and concepts used in the development of commercial products. The strategies for the Innovation management have also been discussed in this paper. This paper also discusses the methods which Apple used to establish an innovative environment within its organization's structure. The paper gives the aspects that are successful, and explicate the reasons for Apple effectiveness. In last, paper also highlights the comparison with apple's competitors.

About Company

Apple was founded in the first of April 1976 at the hands of Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak and Ronald Wayne for the sale of personal computers called "Apple-1". These computers are sold as pallets or (Motherboard): central processing unit (CPU) and memory for random access (RAM) chips and video - script core, these parts of course were less than which we consider being a personal computer in the present day.

Apple runs individual businesses and is engaged in offering several products and services like the computer designs, servers, network solutions and software and services. The company is running a business in USA mainly having the headquarters in different cities like California and Cupertino. The company is currently having 34,300 employees and the financial results show that the revenue of the company has increased by 14.4% from 2008 to 2009. The main reason behind a huge increase in revenue is the increased sales of iPhone handsets and applications from the itunes Store. Apple is selling its products to almost entire world and almost all the country's can avail the products of Apple Inc. through several sources that include the online delivery, sales through the retailers, and etc.

Background

This case study gives an overview of Apple's success. The Apple IPod is the success factor of Apple Inc. It is believed that the IPods are liked by a number of people, and the trend of likes for Apple IPod is increasing day by day. Some analysts believe that mobile phones will still supersede the Apple IPod. This case study discusses the issue that how the success of the iPod raised the licensing question for Apple. Apple refused to take the licensing of its products, and this led to the demise of Apple.

The problem was that whether Apple would succeed in the sustaining its enormous premium. One of these players may try to develop a unified platform, high-end, which will be marketed under license. Impossible not to think of Microsoft, which gradually nibble market share in smart phones with operating system Windows Mobile, version 6 is already circulating on the Internet.
