The main focus of this research is to understand the importance of peer mentoring in construction programme. Many people think that peer mentoring is not good for the construction programme, and it can leave the negative effects on the construction programme. This research makes an emphasis that peer mentoring is very good and beneficial for the construction programme; therefore, it is very beneficial to adopt peer mentoring in construction programme.

Action research is a research method in which the researcher has a dual role, that of researcher and participant. It is a research method that combines two types of knowledge: theoretical knowledge and knowledge of a given context. Action research aims to solve a problem in a given context by applying the scientific method. It is a joint effort between professionals and local agents throughout the research process: from defining the problem to be investigated through analysis of the results (McNiff, 2003).

This research is very important for me as a trainee teacher of construction and my company which is a training company, because I observed in my training that peer monitoring is very beneficial for students of construction in learning things and getting knowledge. Peer mentoring can be a successful way of providing support for these students. Peer mentoring programs are often developed using senior students of construction to mentor incoming students, assisting them with a smooth transition to their new profession.

Peer mentoring is one method found to be a beneficial means of support for students. This researcher conducted a study of the impact of mentoring on construction student, as related to their satisfaction with their chosen profession (Sharp, 2009).

Peer-mentoring has proven to have a positive impact on the decision of students to stay or leave the institution. Mentoring also assists students to set and achieve goals. The positive pressure from socializing with peers who are experiencing the same feelings and situations, along with peer mentors who can talk to them about how they handled similar experiences, is especially helpful and supportive for the construction student (Robson, 1999). In the case of construction students, a formal mentoring program that allows this type of conversation and support is very beneficial.

Peer mentoring is way of providing support and guidance for these students. The peer mentoring programs are often developed using more senior students to mentor incoming students, assisting them with a smooth transition to this new stage in their life.
