Abstract

Being associated with teaching profession has always been my ruling passion. Teaching is the passion of my life; and the purpose of my existence. I believe there is no profession more noble than education. It is because imparting education whether directly or indirectly has implications. My philosophy of supervision revolves around improvements in teaching. This means that teaching should become better. The paper discusses my personal beliefs and philosophy of supervision, and the link between my educational philosophy and my supervisory approach.

Introduction

Supervisors are people who excel in their job. Sometimes, the teachers as well as the students are unaware of the presence of supervisors. A supervisor has many responsibilities. He or she has to supervise every person on the school campus as well as perform many more tasks. There are certain characteristics that are needed to be present in a supervisor. The supervisor is supposed to provide school wide assistance as well as individual assistance (Reiman, 2007). The paper discusses my personal beliefs and philosophy of supervision, my personal supervisory approach and the link between my educational philosophy as well as my supervisory approach. Being associated with teaching profession has always been my ruling passion. Teaching is my passion; and the purpose of my existence. I believe there is no profession more noble than education. It is because disseminating education whether directly or indirectly has implications. My philosophy of supervision revolves around improvements in teaching. This means that teaching should become better (Glanz, 2005). It should not be based on imposing ideas on children. I believe that teachers must know and understand the purpose of education only then they will be able to impart education in a way they should. In the words of educational philosopher Jean-Jacques Rousseau (Glanz, 2005),

“Men, be humane. This is your first duty. Be humane with every station, every age, everything which is not alien to man.”

The role of the supervisor is to accomplish this objective of education (Reiman, 2007). When teachers behave in a humane manner, they will learn from one another in that they will remain more open. They will respect each others' views. This is important in ...
