Introduction

Large organizations try to develop a positive corporate image that will create in the public mind a wave of sympathy for them. This positive image is even considered essential for an organization to survive. Governments and agencies are not exempt from this rule. One of these agencies is Police Force who constantly tries to maintain its image as the true savior of the common man.

Discussion

It has been observed that the entertainment media that include plays, movies and other commercial items have been portraying a negative image of police to the communities and world. The functions of modern policing, in most of the world is the prevention and suppression of crime in the society. A fundamental part of the development of the police function is the relationship of the police with the community, reflected in mutual support. Relationships between police and citizens are qualified not only by the scope of standards defined by law, but by the specific social context in which the police performs functions (Surette, 2011, Pp. 22).

Young people feel that the police are ineffective. This inefficiency, according to them, come from the incompetence and lack of intelligence officers themselves, and then they point the conditions of recruitment and selection of officers.

Police and cinema

The primary source of public perception, and probably the oldest building thus contributing to the overall picture, camping out roles, it is the overwhelming majority of books and films about the police. Adults read series black, black rivers and several other books and novels that are based on police force. So immediately we recognize faces in good or bad, the scammer or police. But that image becomes belief, would it not that the reality may provide some resemblance. The fact seems to be the major police brutality. Thus, if in novels or movies, brutality is often done by the lot of the police, it seems that people in their life, at least by the media, can relatively easily find evidence to reinforce this belief (Rapping, 2003, Pp. 14).

The violence has now become spectacle. Thus the cinema not only able to bring the citizens to believe that almost everything is violence, but it exists everywhere.
