Abstract

In this study we try to analyze and summarize the leadership styles of two great leaders President Barack Obama and Governor Mitt Romney. The primary purpose of this study to examine the personality traits of both the leaders that make them unique in their leadership aspects. Both the leaders are found to have great leadership styles and traits. They reflected the best example of true leadership throughout their time at the government positions. They both earned the confidence and trust of public through their profound leadership qualities and brought up many changes through their in-depth future visions.

Introduction

Barack Hussein Obama is the 44th President of US. He is the very first African American in the history of United States to hold the office. He announced his candidacy in 2007 for the Presidential Post of the United States with the campaign titled as “Hope and Change” and in 2008 he won the presidency. In 2011, he announced his re-election campaign titled as “It Begins with Us” for the year 2012. He earned the post in November 6th, 2012.

Willard Mitt Romney is the 70th Governor of Massachusetts from the year 2003 to 2007. He was also the nominee in 2012's election for the President of United States. He was finally defeated by Barack Obama.

Both the leaders are found to have great leadership styles and traits. They reflected the best example of true leadership throughout their time at the government positions. They both earned the confidence and trust of public through their profound leadership qualities and brought up many changes through their in-depth future visions. Each of them is unique when it comes to their leadership style.

Purpose of the study

The primary purpose of the study is to analyze and summarize the leadership styles of President Barrack Obama and Governor Mitt Romney. This study also reflects their leadership qualities of both of the great leaders who have contributed a lot in the best interest of the United Nations.

Discussion

There have been many prominent leaders in the history of America who have significantly brought freedom, justice and change in the country from the Lincoln to the 44th president Barack Obama. According to Kirkpatrick and Locke, effective leaders are different and unique people in a number of aspects (1991). Barrack Obama has found to have charismatic Leadership skills which are recognized in the election of United States 2008. This trait distinguishes him from many other leaders as according to Jung and Sosik (2006), such leaders possess the qualities of self monitoring, self actualization and motivation to attain social power.
