'Do not injure, abuse, oppress, enslave, insult, torment, torture, or kill any creature or living being.'(Jainism, 1996)

To begin with, we define abolitionism as a movement undertaken to put an end to slavery. Both Pro- and Anti-Slavery movements were marched actively around the country, moving neck and neck with one another.

The Political Argument:

The political debate around slavery centered on the newly acquired territories—should slavery be permitted in the new territories. According to the Anti-slavery wing:
