Introduction

The urbanization has been growing along with the rise in population. The suburban cities offer strong potential for a bright future of children. At the same time it also offers a great deal of investment, jobs, wealth and thus economic development. The urbanization of the area implies high levels of income and further powerful institutions. Although these advantages are enjoyed by the children living in urban areas, certain problems and responsibilities are also associated with children living in the urban areas. This paper highlights the problems and responsibilities of children living in the urban areas.

Discussion

One of the problems that are faced by the children in an urban setting is that of the reading disabilities. Poverty is considered to be one of the most important problems that are faced by the children living in the urban settings. The problem of poverty in the urban areas is an important consideration for the government authorities. When availing data of the metropolitan cities, it can be observed that the survival, educational, and nutritional level of children living in the urban areas is quite low due to the unequal distribution of resources. All these problems of nutrition, education and low levels of survival should be taken into account by the government. With the increase in population, problems of adequate housing, appropriate activities, educational levels and access to juvenile justice are some of the important problems that have been faced by the children living in urban areas (Swart, 2000).

The problem of poverty is increasingly faced by the children living in the urban settings. The deprivation from various resources due to poverty and low levels of income makes the children face difficult situations in their life. Such children lack safety and are not able to afford the housing prices. It is considered to be a great hardship for the households earning low levels of income. Other than that, instability in the basic infrastructure of the residential areas they are living in and deprivation from other individual needs is also considering being a significant problem for children living in the urban areas. As there are a large number of opportunities, present in urban areas to develop and progress, children are working in order to take care of their families. These children are working to take care of their parents that are not able to earn handsome living for them. Due to this reason, children living in the urban setting are not able to enjoy their childhood events and are forced to work at early stages of life. This is taken to be the important drawback of the urban areas (Swart, 2000).

One of the main reasons of these problems is the living of such children in impoverished and natural areas.
