History and Development in Counseling

According to Bond (1992), the history of counseling as a separate service dates back 100 years. During this time, the profession has passed a difficult way of development and formation. It appears that the domestic reader will be interested to know how America developed counseling and in what state the profession is today. Such knowledge will help professionals to identify their own guidelines for the development profession in Russia and the former Soviet Union. Counseling appeared and developed as an American product of the twentieth century. The first confirmation of the use of counseling was to indicate an activity devoted to social or psychological problems, dating back to 1908 by Frank Parsons. In 1951 the word counseling is used by Carl R. Rogers to indicate a relationship in which the client is assisted in their difficulties without giving up the freedom of choice and responsibility (Blocher 2000). News of counseling activities in the United States are from the early '900, when social workers use the term to define the activities of vocational guidance given to soldiers who covered the war and in need of outplacement services.

This product is used in the United States is much broader than in other countries, partly because Americans are paying special attention to the individual, and partly due to the high level of well-being of Americans.
