Introduction

The Denver Art Museum is located at Colorado, in the city of Denver in its Civic Centre. The Denver Art Museum boasts an art collection which along with Indian American Artwork includes over 68,000 more pieces of art excellence from all over the globe.

It has nine curatorial departments, namely Asian art; architecture, design & graphics; painting and sculpture (European and American); photography; Western art; and textile art; New World (pre-Columbian and Spanish Colonial); modern and contemporary and native arts (American Indian, Oceanic, and African).

Museums make it a point to display a variety of different art, architecture or cultural artifacts, all of them which possess a historical or cultural value. As mentioned above, there are above 68,000 pieces of artworks in the Museum. However, that does not mean that any modern works of art that are created by yet 'undiscovered' new talent, should not be show-cased if they are worthy. As times as progressing, we are able to witness more and more artworks based on established design for instance, Rothko or Monets' style of artworks; there are more and more new styles of art being explored and work on every day.

Some artists created artworks that exist only for the sake of arts. Aside from being a piece of décor, the artwork has no value, while others create it in order to impart an underlying message. My selected candidate, Rodge Shimomura, is one of the artists, who paint for a reason and not just for the sake of art. His artworks are based on the traditional Japanese art style, but all of them also possess a meaning or message in them. These artworks, act like a platform for the artists to express his opinions to all the people who view his artworks.

Also, because of his unique Japanese heritage, the exhibition of his work could help promote the Denver Museum as the only which promotes Japan-American relationships.
