Introduction

Children are an integral part of our society and the future of this world rest on their shoulders, therefore it is imperative and essential of the society to take complete care of the children and their upbringing should be done in an effective way so that they don't become the victim of unfair treatment.

The story “INVIERNO” by “Junot Diaz” is very well written and gives a complete picture of psychological effects of childhood neglect. It also contains useful information relating to the psychological effects. There are certain kind of psychological effects on a person brain and personality. The person who has experienced childhood neglect is expected to feel obstacles in his or her social life. This is explained in this story that if children are not getting desired amount of attention and care then it becomes very difficult for the children to adopt normal behavior in social life. The attention and time of parents assist children in learning new things with greater pace and the developing brain in an orderly manner. These children seem themselves as misplaced in their social life. The most important part of children lives for development and growth are first three years. If the children are experiencing neglect in first three years, then they will undoubtedly witness certain Psychological effects in their life. Because, after the age of three children will not be able to use those paths which are not identified and recognize by the people surrounding them.

The above mentioned sentence is taken from the storey. This sentence explicitly expressed its meanings. This sentenced was said by the kid. It indicated that the children were very neglect in term of their right to play and enjoy their childhood. It showed that the children were not allowed to play outside home. The storey also incorporated the factors like child age, duration of neglect, frequency and severity of neglect. The storey findings showed that the children who experienced higher amount of neglect have a serious problem in term of brain functioning. These individuals often found themselves alone and feel emotional distress. The researchers also prove that these neglected individual are very vulnerable in term of any emotional attack. These individuals do not have the ability to react back in case of passionate attack due to childhood neglect. It is also observed that these individuals experienced depression more often as compared to ordinary people. The causes of depression for these individual are not same as for the average person (a person who did not experience neglect in his or her childhood). The neglect leads to make these individuals believe that they are not loveable. This factor leaves extreme foot prints in the mind of these individuals. The researchers and the theorists claimed that the neglect individuals are more involve in emotional instability and depression and feel misfit in their surroundings (Shengold et.al, pp. 81).
