Introduction

Primal Fear is a film by Gregory Hoblit released in 1996 which is based on the novel by William Diehl's Primal Fear. The film starring is Richard Gere, Laura Linney and Edward Norton who have performed their part of the movie brilliantly.

Discussion

The story of the movie is Martin Vail is an ambitious and controversial lawyer and advocate of Chicago who focuses his career in judgments of great social impact in order to appear in press and television. When Martin Vail heard on the news that an altar boy, Aaron Stampler has been charged with the murder of Archbishop Rushman, he talked and discussed with him about the murder case and ends up becoming his lawyer. Vail's interest in advertising the murder trial is merely the beginning but after several conversations with the defendant, where he uncovers the sexual abuse of religion, is involved emotionally as never before had. As he got know about the sexual abuse of the boy, Vail get more interested in the murder trial.

As the first trial starts, Vail begins to present the case in front of the Judge and present the evidence to prove his client innocent. But as the lawyer against Stampler starts presenting his evidence against him, the murder case against Stampler becomes stronger and Vail could not help it to prove Stampler's innocence in the court. It leads Vail to bad temper and he started shouting at his client as he got know that he was lying about not committing the murder in self defense and was favoring the wrong person. Just then, Stampler started shouting back at him fiercely, showing completely a new personality in front of everyone. He started calling himself as Roy and behaves like a violent sociopath.
