Race and My Community

Thesis statement

The racial issues can vary from community to community; this location has very countable issues because we have very countable minorities that live here.

Introduction

The community that I belong to is from a place called Mansfield MO. In the following report I shall be discussing my community and the way we are perceived and treated on that basis.

Discussion

Just imagine coming to a location where you could have a wonderful life merely to find out that individuals tend to look at you differently when you walk by, or go into a restaurant; you feel out of location. Then you find out there are very countable ones individuals like you. So what makes this community diverse from other communities? Is it because in this small community almost all the individuals are the similar to ; we live in a community where everyone is the similar to, we all look alike and talk alike, the only difference is that some have better jobs or they drive better cars then others.

I had thought that there where individuals from all cultures living every where but I was wrong; not in this place. This place consists of almost only one race; it has more whites than any other race. This community does not have the different ethnic groups that live in most cities.

Most of the location s you go you will only see whites out on the streets, in the stores, at restaurants, even in the schools according to Public School Info there are 548 students enrolled at the local school with only one being of another race. Going into a Mexican, or Chinese restaurant is the only location where you will find other cultures. According to the U.S. Census Bureau we have approximately 8,133 individuals living in our place of them there are 2,269 whites, 9 African Americans, 9 American Indians, 4 Asians, 1 Native Hawaiians, 11 Hispanics, 9 two or more races and 1 some other race (U.S. Census Bureau 2007).

What makes this place different then other communities is that here we do not have to fight over discrimination in opposition to other cultures it is the fight over discrimination in opposition to every other that makes us different.

There are only whites; no other ethnic group holds a headship position in this community, office, work locations, or in the schools. This is where the racial issues come into focus. We have three groups of whites in this community there is the subordinate group, groups in minority and the group [as I will call them] the acquire along group they merely desire every on to acquire along, they are amid the two other groups (Aguilar, 2004).

To belong to the subordinate group you have got to have a long life history in the community. Their families have all held some position in the community either as school board individuals, police officer or council ...
