Introduction

In this reflective account I will identify element most relevant to my learning as well as emphasize on my achievement and discuss how it may helped me understand from student nurse to staff nurse.

Gibbs' (1988) framework will be used in this essay, in accordance with NMC (2008) code of professional conduct in respect of confidentiality no names of person or trust will be mentioned to maintain complete anonymity.

Reflection has been defined as the process of internally examining and exploring an issue of concern (Boyd and fales, 1983) this has been prompted by an experience and the concept of terms of self is clarified and its meaning is also created and changed into a conceptual perspective. Gibbs' (1988) reflective model consist of six stages: description, feelings, evaluation, analysis, conclusion and an action plan. This framework is being acknowledged as one of the principal approaches to reflection; however, this is similar to that of Boyd and Fales (1983).

Discussion

Description

Berg and Hallberg found that thoughtful for people with psychological sickness 'demands an increased existence, not enabling one to move away, close the entrance or just disappear' (p. 329). The daily work need needs medical professionals have the potential to deal with constantly new and unforeseen encounters. This effort is made more difficult because in some circumstances medical professionals have to face the paradox of offering healing care along with unconscious treatment and detainment. In short, medical professionals require specialised skills in order to create and sustain healing connections with sufferers (Rask 2002 531-539)

British Nursing (2005) identifies that nurses must acquire this skill and it is important to administer medications correctly in order not to harm patient. Moreover, this became obvious that I have to achieve my desired goal being able to understand and calculate drug accurately. I studied nursing standard quick reference guide and nursing training module on drug calculation. Consequently, nurses may relate their suitable understanding precise to the patient's medication that they are receiving, and carry out the skill that is needed to manage health care to a high level of accuracy. NMC (2002) code of professional conduct uses the term competent to explain the ability and skills to practice effectively and safely with no direct supervision and to practice competently. I need to posses these knowledge and skills required to be safe and effective practice without direct supervision, therefore, in order to develop this skill, during drug round, medications were calculated and administered by using a set principles needed by the trust.

Feelings

I was apprehensive about what to do in the beginning of when analyzing the therapeutic relationship in poly clinic to improve at my maximum potential on my performance. I knew I had to work harder to improve in all ramifications.
