Reflective Assessment Report

Introduction

This report intends to reflect my learning during the Glo-Bus team project. The critical incidents that were experienced and the process of learning to adapt different things with respect to reflective cycle are discussed in this report. The outcomes of Glo-Bus simulation team project are critically evaluated with the theories presented by Gibbs reflective cycle and Schon's double loop learning. However, this project has enhanced my capabilities and assisted me in realizing and understanding my strengths and weaknesses and further developed my transferable skills.

Discussion

Reflection has been defined as the process of internally examining and exploring an issue of concern (Boyd and fales, p.24) this has been prompted by an experience and the concept of terms of self is clarified and its meaning is also created and changed into a conceptual perspective. Another definition of reflection is that it is a reflective and a reconstructive experience, which leads to the identification of a new possible action (Grimmet and Ercikson, p.14). There has been an argument that the a person can assess his own behavior if he reflects on his own experience, this will identify the contradictions between the ways the he practices. This is the theory I found most relevant with my Glo-bus team experiences.

Burns and Bulmans (p.57) argued that reflective practice is a process of reviewing an experience of practice in order to describe, analyze and inform learning and practice. Gibbs' (p.11) reflective model consist of six stages: description, feelings, evaluation, analysis, conclusion and an action plan. This framework is being acknowledged as one of the principal approaches to reflection; however, this is similar to that of Boyd and Fales (p.26). As it stated that learning from experience or experiential learning can be very personal and that students are expected to ask question related to their experience, however, these questions are designed to initiate the process of both reflection and learning from project experience. It helps to understand the impact of our action and improves our skills. I can easily reflect the critical incidents, our actions as a team and their consequences in the mold of Gibbs reflective model of six stages. It was an immense learning journey that enabled me to reflect my skills, such as analytical skills, communication skills, team leadership, working as a team, handling critical situations patiently.

Learning journey relates to a human learning experience during his/ her educational career or personal development through training or any other means (Bruner, p.73). Learning had an impact on my moral development. I became more mature as I moved through education in different phases of life. Learning embedded sensibilities, attitudes and skills in me that made me a morally decent human being. I perceive this development as of value because through these, I learned to participate in the society and achieved a captivating character. Learning also had an impact on my sense of self and consciousness. I learned to overcome challenges and myself in certain situations occurring in the ...
