Reversing the Aging Process

Introduction

The accretion of transformation over the period of time in a person is known as ageing. Ageing is referred as a multidimensional process of alteration in changes physically, socially, and psychologically. However, there are certain dimensions associated with ageing that expands over the period of time, whereas, some of the dimensions decline. Reflexes and reaction time, slows with age, whereas, knowledge, wisdom, and experiences pertaining to events and situations expands with the age. Researchers have demonstrated that even at the later stage of life, there exist chances of potential social, physical, and mental growth and development. Ageing is a vital part of all human societies, which reflects changes that occurs biologically, along with reflecting societal and cultural conventions. It is estimated that 100,000 people around the world die every day due to causes related to age (Andresen, 1989).

Age is measures chronologically, where date of birth of a person is an imperative event. However, when we talk about ageing, the idea, concept and terminology “ageing” itself is a vague and ambiguous. Differentiations can be laid amongst “universal ageing”, which is changes due to age that is shared by all people; and “probabilistic ageing”, which is changes due to ages that happen to some people, as their age grows, along with some diseases. There exists distinctions amongst chronological ageing, social ageing, which is age-expectations of culture regarding the behavior of person for his actions, and biological ageing, which is changes in physical state of the person according to ageing.

Discussion

Society and nature has taught us and informed us all kinds of things pertaining to ageing, along with the process and natural changes that occurs during ageing, which are normal. It has been documented that ever person does not age at same rate, pace and in similar way. Changes that occur during ageing result from loss, where the losses usually starts during early adulthood of a person; however, the losses during this period are not drastic and major losses due to the natural ability of our organs to maintain health and adjust accordingly. It is observed that since the beginning of age of 30, a person starts losing its one percent of organ's function every year. However, preponderance changes in person are seen after the age of 70. The difference in the rate of ageing of person is due to the ability of a person's body to acclimatize to external stress from environment, and diseases a person is undergoing.

There are three categories in which changes occurring due to ageing include: (1) physical, (2) social, and (3) psychological. Changes beginning in one area of person's life contain like-hood of following affect on other two ...
