Introduction

The music has always played an important role in learning and culture. It holds the ability to affect our behavior and emotions. In many cases, the music is part of the tradition of a country or region (reggae, tango, folk, rap, polka, salsa, samba, etc. In many circumstances, it becomes the true protagonist of the societal norms, tradition and values. Music operates in the cultural practices of youth as a socializing agent and at the same acts as a means of differentiating status or role (Downing, 2001). This paper aims to analyze the impact that music develops on adolescents and youth, and society in general, from two of the musical styles or genres, Rock music and Rap music. For this reason, it is first necessary to elaborate what peculiar characteristics each of these music style hold. Following this the impact of these styles on the youth and society is analysed.

Body: Discussion and Analysis

Rock music is one of the most popular musical trends of the last century. Rock music began to evolve from the 1960's. Over the years, rock music was influenced by all musical styles, from country and folk to techno (Pattie, 2007). Many rock songs for decades now are classics of modern music. Many of the songs of groups such as Aerosmith, Guns' N Roses, Rolling Stones, Kiss and others, known even to those who are indifferent to the rock music. During the fifties and later, the vital young, energetic and rebellious filed his music, unlike traditional music, becoming a target for censors and conservatism. The type of music called rock sprung from America, but in peacetime has been adopted by the youth around the world. Although he began as an act of rebellion, rock music became the administration form of music for decades, turning into a musical genre customary and leaving his throne of rebellion to other types of music. Rock music has a vocal melody accompanied by musical instruments such as guitars, drums and keyboard instruments (Kenney, 2008).

Back in the 50's “Rock and Roll "became popular amongst the music fans. Especially those belonging to the labor class applauded the performers like Elvis Presley, Beatles, and Rolling Stones. Since then, music has experienced dramatic changes, and its influence has exerted in all generations, especially in adolescents, who have always been a source of concern for society and families. Society in general has been changed by many of its values prevailing at present like the success and competition, the effectiveness and performance, the power of money, welfare and recreation, social status and beauty (Kenney, 2008). The emergence of means of communication and, especially, the television, has made ??significant change in social life. Music plays an important role in strengthening these values.
