Role of Religion and Power of Prejudice in Fueling Terrorism

Abstract

This paper proved to be a very knowledgeable experience for me as I got to know about the role of religious ideals and power of prejudice in igniting terrorist activities. I started this paper by defining terrorism. Today, we can witness numerous examples of terrorism in different forms. From bombs planted in crowded places to hijacked airplanes, everywhere people are threatened, and number of deaths and causalities are registered. Terrorism has become much more alarming as religion has become the new justification for such acts. Terror in the mind of God explains the justification of terrorism through religious beliefs but not in isolation. It is fused with social, ideological and political movements. The book Religion and Racist Right also talk about the confluence of political and religious ideals in igniting terrorism. Later, I have described the power of prejudice while using Relational Frame Theory in fueling terrorism. In the end, I concluded the report by justifying the combination of power of prejudice and use of religious ideals as dangerous.
