Reasons for choice of research
The importance of the language development within infants cannot be ignored as it is considered to be the first step in the development of the children. The topic for this study has been chosen after taking into account several aspects of the associated between the language and the teaching methods. The teaching methods play an important role in the language development of the new born and infants in their early life. However, other topics regarding the language development like the importance of language development in infants was another topic that was considered for researching. But due to the significance of teaching methods in the language development among new born up to the children three is considered to be the topic that needs to be discussed in detail. Therefore the topic language development in the infants was rejected and instead of it, the present topic on the study was chosen so that the deep analysis can be performed. Thus the chosen topic is of great importance for the study.
Professional justification for the research
The study has covered the area of language development while mainly concentrating on the pre-school children with a particular focus on children birth to three. The study also research about the best methods of teaching for this age group and looking at what activities are suggested by professionals to promote language development. The study has been carried out in order to conduct a case study to inform the dissertation on a child age 2 years. The case study will involve documentation from the setting, interview with the setting manager and the speech and language specialist plus an early year's teacher. This field of the research has been chosen because this is the most common area that we experience problems with that is speech and language delays and impacts on behaviour etc. Working in early years for 14 years, small rural setting with very diverse cultures, new age travellers, Romany travellers, large drug and alcohol culture, area of deprivation etc, high amount of input from social services.
