Definition of Schizophrenia

Schizophrenia is one of the most disabling diseases of the brain. Many people suffer from the symptoms of schizophrenia. For instance, people hear voices that other would not hear. They think there are people attempting to hurt them and sometimes don't make sense when they talk. These problems make it very hard for them to retain a job or take care of themselves. This disease can happen to anyone whether it's men, women, youngsters and children. (Anderson, 1980)

Causes of Schizophrenia

There are several factors which contribute to the occurrence of schizophrenia, including the genes factor as this illness runs in families. The other factors are also prevalent for instance, the problems of nutrition and germs before the birth of a child. The different structure and the chemistry of brain are also vital. Lot of information has been obtained by scientists regarding schizophrenia. Genes and parts of the brain have been identified as the major factors in this illness. There are few experts who have suggested that the origin of illness takes place before the birth of a child and it appears at a later part of the life. The increase in studies by the researchers would help them in predicting the occurrence of this disease in the people. (Beck, 2001)

Symptoms of Schizophrenia

There are various symptoms in Schizophrenia which varies from the level of mild to severe. There are the three types of symptoms which are:

Positive symptoms

It basically indicates the deformation of a person's nervous system. These behaviors are known as psychotic attitudes. All the people who suffer from this disease are occasionally not capable to tell what's real from the thought that is imagined. Positive symptoms include:

Hallucination: this refers to the human's unusual capability of seeing, hearing, smelling, or feeling things that nobody else can do. The problem of not properly hearing the voice is familiar for people who suffer from Schizophrenia disease. These kinds of people might continue hearing different voices for a long time before it's noticed by friends or family.

Delusions: This thing occurs when the person thinks nothing is having truthiness. For instance, he may think people coming on television and radio are directly interacting with him or her. At times, lots of people think they face threat which is caused by other that might hurt them.

Thought disorders: These are the habits of believing things which are not helpful and usual. The kinds of people who suffer from thought disorders would face difficulties in arranging their thoughts. In the middle of a thought, a person might stop talking and few of them might speak words having no sense at all and some make a word that carries no meaning.
