School Hygiene Policy



Introduction

Cathedral High School was founded by Archbishop John Joseph Cantwell as the first Los Angeles Archdiocesan high school for boys in drop 1925. The Christian male siblings have functioned the school since its opening. The school was designated Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monument no. 281 in 1984.

Cathedral is established in downtown Los Angeles on the site of the vintage Calvary Cemetery (which relocated round the turn of the twentieth century), in outlook of the Los Angeles skyline and the new Cathedral of Our woman of the Angels and adjacent to Dodger Stadium in Chávez Ravine and Chinatown, Los Angeles, California. The school athletics teams are nicknamed the Phantoms because of its position on a vintage cemetery. When construction of the new campus began in 2005, old gravestones and walkways were discovered under the football field and vintage gym.

The school attracts students primarily from beside West Los Angeles (Hollywood, shiny lagoon, Echo Park, Los Feliz, Westlake), Northeast Los Angeles (Eagle Rock, Highland reserve, Glassell reserve, Cypress reserve, El Sereno, Lincoln Heights, Atwater Village), Glendale, Burbank, west San Gabriel Valley (Pasadena, Altadena, South Pasadena, Sierra Madre, Alhambra, San Gabriel, Arcadia, Temple City, Monterey reserve, Rosemead, Montebello), East Los Angeles, Downtown Los Angeles, and South Los Angeles (Long sandy shore, Compton, Inglewood, Lynwood, Huntington reserve, South barrier, Downey).

Plans were broadcast in 2003 for a new building to dwelling school rooms and the gym. The construction was funded mostly by bountiful donations. Construction started in 2005 with the demolition of the old, sixty-five year-old gym and was entire in 2007. The new construction includes modern research school rooms, diverse other school rooms, a high-tech computer school room, East Coast-style hallways, a seminar room, and admissions office. State-of-the-art locker rooms and weightlifting room around out the building.

Theatre productions are presented by the scholars and administered by Joseph Walsh and match numerous peak college-level programs in the country. Girls from neighboring schools audition and act the feminine roles. Recent achievements include such musicals as Les Misérables, friends and Dolls, Jesus Christ Superstar, Godspell, Grease, Once on This Island, Urinetown, and The Wiz (performed at the Baldwin Park Performing creative pursuits Center). Plays made encompass Arsenic and vintage Lace, Romeo and Juliet, One Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest, Enter Laughing, large-scale Mary, The Diviners, and Amadeus.

The Cathedral band program is under the authority of Dr. Brian Bartel, who evolved the program more than a decade ago. They showcase some live performances as well as play at home football and basketball sport and rallies.

In homage to its history, the new construction houses various tokens of past lore all through, including the vintage scoreboard and timber floor. In addition, a new football area and pathway were built; ground being broken in 2007 and completing up in 2008, along with a state-of-the-art scoreboard.
