How can I help the primary school children I teach to develop their self-esteem?



Abstract

This research proposal aims at understanding ways of helping primary school children in helping in developing their self-esteem. This research should be done to analyze ways of developing self-esteem among students and their experience on that self-esteem. This research will include an action and study over classroom students in order to improve own practices and to involve and learn from the students and other participants in order to increase learning experience for all. This research will be done to generate a caring practice focused on values of respect, gentleness, awareness and kindness of individual needs. This research focusing on teacher experience in her classroom, she have prepared a theory related to self-esteem development in context of classroom, this has been set up to testify the study, her aim is to identify the theory of psychology in literature body, in relation to growth of self-esteem in order to explore the things, which may help in relating theory with her own practice and theory.

Introduction

Language learning and teaching style has varied significantly over the last twenty years. Major reason of this relates to students learning habits and their attitude towards learning rather than on teacher and their teaching styles (Hismanoglu, 2000). Recently it is revealed that teaching is more effective in getting greater outcomes if teachers taken into consideration of differences in students learning strategies and styles. English learning and teaching process is an academic act which required both teachers and students. Both students and teachers have their own unique level of understanding, and, who possess their own way of teaching and learning. Teaching styles is said to be an enduring preferences lies in an individual and they tend to vary with each other: therefore, the style adopted by teacher is key element to better identify and understand the teaching and learning process. Teaching and learning styles are seemed to correlate with each other and tutor usually teaches in the way he or she experienced or learnt. It is deemed on student side that they pay most attention when their teachers tend to use teaching style which matches to their learning styles. A major amount of research related to learning styles indicates that student are in better position to learn, achieve better and progress when their courses are set in such pattern that they correlate with their learning style preferences. It is also preferred that student tend to be more motivated towards learning when their teachers pay adequate attention to their learning style.

Self-Esteem is considered to be when student feel good about himself and his performance. There are several theories which suggest that self esteem is a result of feedback received from its social interaction in environment within their school and home.
