Introduction

Throughout history, there have been leaders who applied solutions today may be perfectly acceptable. However, the complexity of the modern world has brought experts in various branches to define theories, techniques, methods or concepts that may lead to the success of the Management (Reading L102RA, 2010). The knowledge gained from block L100 are important to a future Operations Sergeants Major because the essence of the army is the style of way they are managed. Also it is important to mention here is that as an organizational leader the major challenge is to provide an environment for the subordinates to retain and support the leader in all situations faced.

Organizational Leadership L101RC

In the U.S. Army Leadership Field Manual, the Center for Army Leadership delineates leadership skills and attributes at three levels: Direct, Organizational, and Strategic (US Army Sergeants Major Academy, 2010). Direct Leadership is characterized by face-to-face interactions with a handful of people, such as project team members, up to several hundred people, such as the staff of a large department or a manufacturing site. Organizational Leadership influences many more people - several hundred to several thousand - but mostly indirectly, through what I term one and two-removed relationships (a one-removed influence relationship is one where I direct a person who does the actual hands-on work; a two-removed situation is one where the person doing the work is directed by someone who I direct). It is also concerned much more with cross-cutting processes and systems as well as policy development. Strategic Leadership often encompasses hundreds of thousands of people and might affect millions (US Army Sergeants Major Academy, 2010).

The Application of Power and Influence in Organizational Leadership L102RA

Military majors and leaders are assigned missions. These missions have a great importance in the view of these leaders. They are expected to achieve their assigned missions. To achieve these missions leadership is the key component. A leader can only lead its subordinates if they in the position to influence their subordinates and have a power on them in terms of compliance-focused influence (Reading L102RA).

A good leader knows how to handle the power, understand the symbolic effect of their actions and decisions, knows the magic of words, sets ceremonies and traditions of great impact, pay attention to handling situations, and is supported by the organizational structure as communication tool of great power.  The executive power of a note in many ways, some very explicit and other covert, for example, when able to hire or promote a person who wishes to promote, obtain approval for an investment budget and expenses or achieve increases remuneration for their most loyal subordinates (Reading L102RA, 2011). It also reflects his closeness with Head management and their ability to define the agenda of the company.
