Introduction

The world in which we live today is full of different sort of people. Some people are good and some in the vague of illusions lose their morality and indulge in tasks that are considered as immoral and evil. Such people also include sexual offenders. In order to deal with the sexual offenders there are civil commitment programs that work to reduce the events of sexual offence in society. The aim and objective of this paper is also to talk about the sexual offenders and civil commitment.

The objective of the research is to discover whether the Civil Commitment reduces the number of sexual offences occur in society or not.

Discussion

Civil commitment is a legal process in which court orders an involuntary confinement or restriction of a person alleged to be mentally disordered. This is done so that the treatment of the person can be undertaken (Wright, 2003).

Positive Arguments

When the sexual offenders are given training under the civil commitment improve their mental illness and as a result they become able to adjust in the society just like other people.

Role of Training in Improving Sexual Offenders Behavior

The main ambition of civil commitment is to provide treatment to the offenders. As a result of this training they become normal. To achieve this objective provision of training and treatment is necessary. To gauge the response of the training in 1996, Robinson conducted a study. Robinson made the provision of cognitive skills training program or a control group to around 2,125 sexual offenders. After the release of these 2,125 offenders their performance were tracked for a period of one year.
