Introduction

A hostile work environment includes sexual harassment by an employee against a co-employee. However, the irritating behavior creates an offensive working environment which affects the victim's ability to continue working. In order to avoid sexual harassment, it is better to, prevent before it happens.

Among all the ways to avoid sexual harassment, prevention is the best tool to eliminate sexual harassment. Prevention ways such as code of practice in which the employers encouraged by the Ministry of Human Resource, to adopt the Code of Practice against sexual harassment and an internal mechanism to prevent sexual harassment in the workplace. Firms should conduct a training session for employees, supervisors and managers. This session should teach what sexual harassment is, demonstrate that employees have a right to a workplace free of sexual harassment, examine your complaint method, and stimulate employee to use it. Other than that, employers should take all the complaints seriously. If someone complaints about sexual harassment, act quickly to investigate complaints.

The United States has implemented a legislative solution for this problem. In 1991, the Act on Civil Rights amalgamated the laws regarding sexual harassment. The government holds not only the guilty party liable for the act of sexual harassment, but the company held fully responsible, as well. If the verdict of the court announces the company guilty, it obliged to pay large sums in compensation. Litigation presented only to companies in which human resource managers are aware of what happened, but failed to handle the matters properly and according to the law.
