Background

The Zhou started as the semi-nomadic tribe that dwelled to west of Shang kingdom. Due to their nomadic modes, they wise how to work with persons of distinct cultures. After the time, they resolved in Wei River valley, where they became vassals of Shang. Zhou finally became more powerful than Shang, and in about 1040 B.C. they beaten Shang in warfare. They constructed their capital in Xi'an. Part of their achievement was outcome of profiting allegiance of disaffected city-states. Shang was furthermore dwindled due to their unchanging warfare with persons to north.
