Social Construction of Life Development and Change

This module titled Social Structure and development of life-change, during which we have explored the concepts and definitions of the privilege, the difference the power. (Thomson, 2003) describes the power as 'complex phenomenon' and identify it on five properties, including knowledge and its application, and the social structures that we negotiate daily. (Dye, 2003) talks about the power of whiteness, and how social structures maintained and controlled to sustain white control, whereas, (Fook, 2002) talks about the power, and how it changes depending on context and time.

In this essay I am trying to explore these concepts further by identifying privilege, difference and power, and in addition, I demonstrate how, by the time of this module, change has occurred to draw relevant statement the perspectives to explain the dynamics and the process of change.

First, I present an overview of the set and its components as available and put a brief note to set their activities. I then explore the two areas that I have selected, whiteness and gender, with greater emphasis on motherhood, which seemed to be the two dominant characteristics of the set, and therefore, require attention. Finally, I look at the self descriptor that provides more evidence of the change.

The formulation of the set comprises of six white women, a Nigerian woman, a white man, one Estonian, one with dyslexia, with four children, there are as many children as there are members of the set, three twenty-three years old, two thirty years old, one in their late thirties, one in her late forties, and six of the eight have some work commitments. The mixture of sex, age, and ethnicity is not selected randomly. I received most of information when the set met, for example, male gender and the one that I described in my mind as Afro Caribbean. The latter will be explored later.

Through the process of forming and norming within a group, we certainly learned characteristics such as emotionality, conflicts and solutions. This was achieved, by the representation in which we learned more about each other, or as to learn, in fact, described as speaking in turns, the members to learn more about each other allows by exchanging information, for example, who had children and who worked. Moreover, I could hear that there were differences in accents. Thus, the set had little prior knowledge, but it was not until the second task, in which it required that we should talk more in depth and personal, to explore the group dynamics and discuss the differences and interestingly stuff, which, we did not include before. This held as very interesting and empathetic process while we achieved the task in the formulation and presentation, our presentation and the richest discussions largely achieved in the smaller sets and the two areas that focused on in this essay involve just three people.
