Introduction

The paper aims to emphasize on the various approaches in order to safeguard and protect both adults and children. Moreover, the paper highlights the policies, legislations and practices regarding the issues. Furthermore, a number of various issues are discussed in the paper such as discrimination, child abuse and discrimination. In today`s world, children and adults are often face severe issues and problems in the form of discrimination and sexual abuse. Children are victims of many forms of violence (Barker, 2004). They can be exploited as slaves, used as soldiers and forced to work. Children may be abandoned and abused. Violence takes place in the streets, in schools, in hospitals and other places that could be considered secure. Children are vulnerable and dependent on adults for meet many of their material and moral necessities. They cannot defend themselves and their views, which is often neither required nor heard. Therefore, special measures and approaches are needed in order to compensate for their vulnerability (Brown, 2010).

In many European countries, society tolerates and sometimes even approves certain current forms of violence against children. In most cases, the violence against children remains invisible. This is because the children are afraid to talk about and report it. The program building a Europe for children is intended to assist States to develop strategies for prevention of violence (Cleaver, 2007).
