Introduction

Internet is in a state of constant change, and is a major part of Information Technology, and developing it, with the credibility of immediacy and bringing globalization in all aspects of communication with fastness. Through, the internet the communication is more specific with different interactive strategies among its users. In recent days, traditional advertising mediums like radio, television, and print media, are being overshadowed by internet advertising, which has taken different forms and has more advantages over these mediums. Marketing communication is becoming personal, interactive, interesting, social and precise. Different approaches and strategies of marketing communication are being introduced and followed in various social networking sites every day like Facebook, Orkut, and Twitter. These strategies not only help creating an impact over targeted audience but also make them interact with the brand. In social networking people often get attached to brand communication and join and follow different brands than usual pop up or banner ads. More and more interactive communication is being introduced in advertising every day by these networking sites, and for advertising and targeted marketing in the near future, these social networking sites will become the prime arena for all companies. Internet in its prevalent form is predominantly a source for information, entertainment and communication, but progressively it is also acting a vehicle for commercial transactions. Marketing has been marked as internet's primary use, since it is explored and expanded as a medium for business. Soon, for the majority of successful enterprises, internet was among the key distribution channels and spreading brand communication and marketing was done through social networking sites.

Social Networking Sites

Online communities of people having the same interest and common activities or who are interested in knowing the activities or interest of other people, such communities on the internet are called social networking sites. A communicating network is created among its user communities by the social networking sites. They provide a number of ways for its people to interact, through messaging, through chat, email, voice chat, video, discussion groups, blogging or file sharing. After the World Wide Web progressed, and start becoming common, different networking sites were introduced, but social networking era really started from year 2002, in 2006, it was so common that anyone with an email address could sign up easily on these networking sites.

Dues to a variety of audiences, most of the advertisers aim towards these online mediums. To create, and spread brand identity, companies now opt for the internet, and take this medium as an ideal platform to communicate their brands efficiently. Most of the ads are presented in interactive forms by the advertisers, so that the audience tend to check them and get to know about the product.
