Space colonization

Introduction

Neil Armstrong once said, "That's one small step for a man, one giant leap for mankind," after he became the first man to reach the moon. He certainly thought space exploration was a great idea ... and why isn't it? Space exploration is absolutely necessary to humans. Without space exploration, this world would not be near as advanced as it is today. Without space exploration, where could humans go if a nuclear war arises? Without space exploration, our world would be unsafe.

Through space exploration, humans have become a much more advanced civilization. Many objects that are taken for granted nowadays were actually taken from the many space excursions. The invention of satellite phones, GPS systems, and satellite systems all come from space trips. Even the weather forecast uses satellite readings, which also comes from space. In addition to this, though many people do not really think about it, if space exploration did not happen, humans would still be wandering around saying, "are you sure the earth is round?"

Urge to Explore Space

The human race has always held an irresistible urge to venture out into the unknown for the benefit of man, science, and civilization. Throughout the ages the human race has always had an unquenchable curiosity for the unknown. We have always fed that curiosity by expanding our boundaries for the purpose of knowledge. We strive to get a better understanding of our surroundings, and to determine where we as species stand. From this the human race has created science, faith, and religion. These were all created as a result of our developing understanding of our environment, and give reason to everything we discover. Now I myself am not a religious person, so the following statements may hold a biased view.

Our Society

It is my belief that humanity created religion as a justification for the unexplainable. As our species advanced further up the evolutionary ladder we encountered even more things that we could not explain with our current knowledge, thus religion filled the gap in our understanding. As a result of this, religion has been integrated into our developing culture, and now holds an important place for many of us. However human society and culture has evolved enough that science and technology is quickly catching up to religion in terms of cultural advancement. Science now consists of solid proven laws and principles that we have come to follow, allowing us to have a better understand of the universe. For humans to continue its understanding about the universe, and secure its species, we must venture out into space for the benefit of mankind Man has been evolving on earth for millions of years.

Evolution

We are, in fact, the fastest advancing species on this planet. In just 2.5 million years we have evolved from beings guided by primal instincts in to a civilized collective society governed by self imposed hierarchal systems. Not only have we advanced socially, but our population as a species has rapidly increased to its current position where ...
