Sports and Child Development

Introduction

Modern techniques and biological and sociological studies show that the systematic, long-term sports play an important role in improving the health of children and adolescents. Normal child development is impossible without energetic and diverse motor actions. It is in childhood and adolescence is most pronounced positive effect of regular exercise on the development of an organism. (Selman 2000)

Discussion

Sports games are very diverse and their impact on body is not the same, especially greater palette of motor actions makes football different. Football intensifies work of different muscle groups, increasing the metabolism; stimulate the respiratory system and circulatory system. The good news is the fact that periods of stress in the games are replaced by leisure, there is no continuity of movements. Different muscle groups in turn enter into the work, and those that rest at the moment, it is better to recover against the other high-functioning muscle. Non-standard problems arising in the course of the game, forcing creative in their solution, produce such useful life skills like teamwork, communicative, comradely mutual assistance. (Rosenberg 2009)

Football is considered as a provider of versatile physical training by educating the resourcefulness, the ability to navigate in a rapidly changing environment, the courage, and the determination. It develops visual analyzer, improved spatial vision, vestibular stability, develops agility, produced motor memory, forming the automatism of movements, and trains endurance. (Piaget 2002)

Despite such a positive influence of football on the body adolescents game is not as practiced as the means of physical development of children. This contributes to the common misperception view of the high injury playing and the absence of material and technical base, although motor activity in the game of football is many times the other sports games. (Oosterwegel & Oppenheimer 2003)

In contrast to a fitness program in schools where physical education class takes place twice a week (rarely three) of forty minutes in the lesson study only one kind of sport, physical education students engaged in school football, assumes their full development, strengthening the organs and systems, development of physical qualities and increased functional ability. Program of physical training in school football involves a five-time employment in the form of training for twelve hours a week, where we study a range of sports exercises. (James 2002)

The contribution that sport can make toward the social and personal development of children is as important as the health benefits are for children, sport offers more for their development than just a form of exercise to reduce the risk of developing lifestyle diseases. For many children and young people, sport forms a significant part of their lives, shaping their development into members of society and the sorts of people they become. (Harter 2009)
