Introduction

Storytelling for some people stands for the source of creating fantastic, magical tales portraying the truth through the use use allegories and symbols. Some people characterize storytelling with the giving air to their personal experiences and enlightening others by means of those experiences. The remaining people takes the art of storytelling as an informative source, by relaying their experiences and sharing the outcomes with them to take a lesson from life.

Discussion

The verbal sharing of people's experiences with their family members, social circle, colleagues, faraway relatives; in short, with everyone is as old as the time itself. Before mass media or technology, the primary form of entertainment was talking to one another. Imagine, Biblical times, or a native American camp 500 years ago. Or even a Wisconsin farm family 200 years ago. The day is done, the chores finished, the family is sitting around what do they do? They talk, they tell stories, and it is how people have always connected with one another. Telling stories is not what we do in our spare hours, something just to pass the time. Telling stories is what we do period. Stories are how we make sense of life.

Our entire worldview and memories created out of our stories. Two people can witness the same event, process and interpret it completely differently and reach completely different conclusions about what just happened; and that is before the fluid, and corrosive effects of memory take hold. The reality of the actual event, even if it recorded on film, blurs into the past. In its place: Stories, our way of interpreting what we have seen, which is all we have, to make sense of what passes before our eyes.
