Question 01: Evaluate Eisenhower's critical thinking as the commander of the Mediterranean Theater in 1942-43 using the Critical Thinking Model proposed by Dr. Steve Gerras.

As commander of the Mediterranean Theater, General Eisenhower face many decisions. This document uses the Model Gerra Dr. Steve critical thinking to evaluate two decisions by Eisenhower as the commander. It will examine if critical thinking is demonstrated by their actions. The two actions to be evaluated are the support of Eisenhower, De Gaulle with President Roosevelt and the slapping incident by General Patton.

Another decision of Eisenhower was to take this war as his responsibility to protect the American way by restraining the forces of selfishness. Clarifying the concern is the most critical element in critical thinking methodology. A major problem that Eisenhower had to deal with was the French wartime politics involving de Gaulle and Giraud for control of the Free French movement. From General Eisenhower's point of view, he believed that the French Committee of National Liberation was in the best interest of the allies.. Eisenhower made the assumptions that in order to keep peace, the committee was necessary. He inferred there needed to be a common French front.

Eisenhower told the nation that it would face all these problems for the indefinite future, or the long haul. For all practical purposes, he accepted the existence of a Communist threat as a permanent fact of life. In the words of Robert A. Divine, the cold war turned a trouble to be dealt with, not an all rounder cause against the drives of evil. However, the problem was a multifarious menace of which Communism was only a single component. Eisenhower systematically reported that menace in apocalyptic terms; in his discussion, every precarious situation auspicated total tragedy. Apocalypse was the issue that had to be carried off indefinitely. Therefore, Eisenhower's real working idea of peace can better be described as what apocalypse management. If the free world could contain Communism for good without entering war or expending too much in the procedure, that would serenity. Naturally the U.S. would still be at war with the Soviet Union and Communism, but that would just be a cold war. By this system of logic, the nation could be at peace while engaging cold war indefinitely. Because peace also devolved on financial conditions, the means to peace was to develop a vast nuclear armory that would allow for more bangs for the buck, a popular phrase of the 1950S. Eisenhower anticipated obtaining peace and apocalyptic terrors by threatening to apply weapons of apocalypse in retaliation.

He was more concerned about their image and lack of experience and had never commanded the battalion level. There were messages from Churchill to Roosevelt cable about the military situation in Tunisia unravel problems Eisenhower. Brooke and other British officers felt that Eisenhower.
