Study For Drug Prevention
Intervention
The use of drugs in the United States of America has become a very serious problem, for its people and the government. The Health Department has been successful in the planning, development and implementation of effective programs, to restrict youngsters from abusive use of drugs. In our research report, we will go through four articles to see the methods proposed by different authors for effective drug prevention.
Literature Review
We have gone through four articles to find an effective method for drug prevention; there are a number of points in these articles that are similar to each other. First, all the articles focus on the youngsters, as they are the ones who are primarily targeted. It is easier to make youngsters addicted to drugs then mature people. Another important issue that is identical in these articles is that they all recognize the importance of the development of a perfect method or program to fight this issue.
Article 1
This article (Drug prevention for teens, 2008) focuses on the prevention of drugs especially among the teens in the United States. It discusses the efforts made by the United States health department. After whose efforts, the abuse of drugs among the teens in the United States have decreased. Through the use, of drug prevention programs for teens. This article also discusses the types of drugs, used effectively by teens in the United States. The consequences that the society are facing due to this problem. What factors indulge teens in such activities? It also proposes some methods for the prevention of drug abuse among teens, and how they get addicted. Along with that this article also discusses the drug awareness programs initialized under the supervision of Health Department of the United States to prevent such activities.

In this article (Cuijpers, 2002), the priority is given to the western countries, especially their schools because it is the schools from where all the efforts for the prevention of drugs should begin. It is the schools that provide children with essential education about each and every perspective of life. This journal discuss the prevention programs introduced by the government to fight this problem, there is also some criticism regarding the prevention programs as they are not very effective, there are no perfect criteria defined for the implementation of such programs. The journal also includes studies for examining the mediating variables of intervention, meta-analysis, and studies for a comparison of direct prevention programs with and without specifically defined characteristics. It also defines a criteria that an effective drug prevention program should gratify: the effects of the program should be proved, superior interactive delivery method, a perfect social influence model, focusing on the norms, commitment, intention, increasing interaction of communities, use of peer leader, add life skills to programs.
