Supply Chain

Introduction

For this assignment, I have selected the third project option which is “Develop a supply chain operations plan for a hypothetical new enterprise, based on information about real-world resources, vendors, and customers”. The supply chain of any company starts with suppliers and ends with our customers. It includes intermediate activities, from the processes of supply, storage (both raw materials and goods in process or finished goods), logistics of product distribution, sales planning or production and programming of the plant. The importance of Supply Chains in the current business environment has become essential, to the extent that competition in the modern world is no longer between products, but supply chain against supply chain. It has been proven that companies that excel in sales are those that have invested to improve its supply chain [Nichols, E. (2009)].

I have used the secondary data research method for the compilation of the literature. The major secondary sources includes journals, text books, peer reviewed articles and other internet sources.

The name of my hypothetical new enterprise is “Naseeb Dairy Company”. The services of the company include offering Goat and Cow Milk, Baby Milk, Almond Milk, Borden Milk and Black Milk. The principal activities of the company are the supply of own-label and branded liquid milk and butter to the retail market, along with production and marketing of dairy items such as cream and cottage cheese.

Implications of Supply Chain Management Practices at the Naseeb Dairy Company

My observation shows that dairy industries play a prominent role in the agro-based economies, while encompassing various vulnerabilities in its entire supply chain. The industry is extended from as far as a milk producer in the rural area to a consumer of the urban areas, linked through processes such a pasteurization and transportation. This dairy company believe that investing in the development of the supply chain is a good decision that generates competitive advantages to match, plus it will bring economic and strategic benefits to retain current customers satisfied, and of course company can gain a greater market share without sacrificing profitability [Mentzer, J. (2010)].

The main business philosophy of Naseeb Dairy Company must be based on the fact that supply chain management has increasingly become a strategic necessity for corporations. Supply chain management has roots in the focus on lean and efficient manufacturing. These lean efficiencies were driven by corporations initiating cost saving changes to the business process. Supply chain management is seen as a process-driven approach to streamlining the business. The factors that make the goal of supply chain can be said that both the quantity, quality, time, and cost are driving factors, and, coming to depend on demand, and this is not constant, the quality demands Once they are older, delivery times are variable, costs vary [Wang, H. (2009)].

Principles of Supply Chain Management in the Naseeb Dairy Company
