Hysterectomy Surgery and Anaesthesia

Introduction

Effective management of pain is associated with increased patient satisfaction in early mobilization of health and wellness structure. Improved health management structure has enabled the specialist to decrease hospital stay of patients and reduce their costs, while maximizing the service quality and improving treatment procedure. Regardless of these benefits, a large percentage of patients continue to suffer from postoperative pain. The relief of pain and suffering in patients, undergoing a procedure, must be a priority for health workers involved in patient care. The subjective nature of the experience of pain requires flexibility, compassion, and understanding of the treating physician.

Surgical procedures inevitably produce tissue trauma and release of inflammatory mediators and pain. New surgical techniques and anaesthetic procedures and drugs coupled to an increased level of care in pain management have improved patients care with pain (Snyder & Keegan, 2006). European Society of Regional Anaesthesia and Pain Therapy conducted a systematic review of analgesic interventions aimed at a surgical procedure improvement under Procedure Specific Postoperative Pain Management (APP, 2007). There is increasing evidence that the effectiveness of analgesic agents varies between different surgical procedures.

Main aim and objective of this paper is to analyze the dimensional aspects related to use of anaesthetic treatment in surgery. Use of anaesthetic provides significant advantages to physicians and surgeons while operating patient in operation theatre. There are different kinds of anaesthetic that are use in medical surgeries of patient. Depending on the criticality of the problem and capability of the patient to control the impact of anaesthesia on the body, it is essential to consider the prospects of using anaesthesia in medical surgeries and treatments of acute diseases (AST, 2009).

This paper analyzes the dimensional aspects related to medical treatment and surgery of patients. It concentrates on how to care and prepare a patient both in surgery and anaesthesia. Use of surgical equipments, medical procedures, anaesthetic care and support given to patients undergoing anaesthesia for a range of surgical situations, policies and protocols in relation to correctly checking the surgical patient, infection control strategies to dress and prepare hands for the non-medical surgical practitioner role, risks to the care environment, and practice of aseptic technique in safe surgery. This paper reflects on an incident to elaborate anaesthetic treatment strategies used in surgery based on the medical problem.

Discussion

During my placement at a hospital, I gained a lot of exposure about medical treatment especially about anaesthetic treatment in surgery. Knowledge and skills I acquired during my placement enabled me to understand the use of anaesthesia and what kind of treatment is more appropriate. A patient, named Mrs. Bloggs came to hospital for a gynaecology treatment. She was experiencing internal problem related to gynae and doctors advised her to undergo a surgery for proper cure of the disease. The patient went through hysterectomy operation for the removal of the uterus as the sole option to cure the disease. I attended the operation under the supervision of medical experts, surgeons, and nurses who ...
